Tourist organisation Ruma

One of the youngest in Serbia (founded in 2011), the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Ruma has become recognizable for its tourist manifestations, and then also for its projects, such as the protected natural habitat “Trskovača Pond”, which attract more and more attention from both local and foreign guests.

The first test was successfully passed when the event called “Rumfest”, which combined the traditional gastronomic offer of Srem with a fair of creative handicrafts, already in its second edition, in August 2012, attracted several thousand people.

This was valued at the Tourism Fair in Novi Sad with the Grand Gold Medal of the Novi Sad Fair.
After only a few years of work and organization of events, the Tourist Organization of Ruma is the owner of several awards (“Rumfest” 2012; “Christmas street” 2015; “Rumfest” 2016).

The main activity of the Tourism Organization of Ruma is the promotion and improvement of tourism in the territory of the Municipality of Ruma.

With the aim of valorizing, preserving, and protecting tourist values ​​in the territory of the municipality of Ruma, the Tourist Organization Ruma performs the following tasks:

– promotion and improvement of tourism in the territory of Ruma,
– tourism development programs and programs of promotional activities,
– coordination of activities and cooperation between economic and other entities in tourism that directly and indirectly affect the improvement and promotion of tourism,
– the annual program and plan of promotional activities following the Strategic Marketing Plan, plans and programs of the Tourist Organization of Serbia,
– production of informative and propaganda materials promoting the tourist values ​​of the municipality of Ruma (printed publications, audio and video promotional materials, internet presentation, souvenirs, etc.), and in cooperation with the competent authorities provides tourist signage,
– collection and publication of information on the entire tourist offer in the territory of the municipality of Ruma,
– organization and participation in the organization of tourist, scientific, professional, sports, cultural and other gatherings and manifestations,
– the organization of a tourist information center (for receiving tourists, providing free information to tourists, collecting data for the needs of informing tourists, familiarizing tourists with the quality of the tourist offer, familiarizing competent authorities with tourist complaints, etc.),
– mediation in the provision of services in domestic handicrafts,
– encouraging the realization of the program of construction of tourist infrastructure and spatial arrangement,
– initiating and organizing activities aimed at improving the quality of services in tourism, developing tourist awareness, and tourist culture, and protecting and improving the environment,
– performs tourist activities following the Law in Tourism and
– performs other obligations determined by the Statute

The municipality of Ruma covers an area of ​​582 km², with about 55,000 inhabitants, half of whom live in the city of Ruma, and half in the remaining 16 towns: Kraljevci, Dobrinci, Donji Petrovci, Putinci, Žarkovac, Mali Radinci, Stejanovci, Buđanovci, Platičevo, Hrtkovci, Nikinci, Grabovci, Klenak, Vitojevci, Pavlovci, and Voganj.

 

Ruma is located between the two largest centers, Belgrade and Novi Sad, only thirty kilometers from the airport “Nikola Tesla”. The E-70 highway and the railway line (Corridor 10) pass on the outskirts of the town, which connect the municipality of Ruma with Western and Southeastern Europe. An important road is the M-21 highway (Novi Sad – Šabac).

 

The southern border of the municipality is represented by the river Sava, with a length of 37 kilometers, which, with the help of the Šabac and Sremskomitrova docks, enables river traffic to be available to the economy.

 

This geographical position, at the intersection of important roads, near large city centers such as Belgrade and Novi Sad, provides good foundations for the development of tourism, but also other branches of the economy.
