Besides agriculture, other economic branches are also represented: leather, rubber, and footwear industry, construction material, metal, graphic and food industry, transport, trade, crafts, and hospitality.<\/p>\n

Great attention is on to the harmonious development of the city. All capital facilities of social standards and infrastructure were built by the self-contribution of citizens.<\/p>\n

Ruma has a network of preschool institutions, primary and secondary schools. It has a developed health service and several pharmacies, a center for social work, and a gerontological center. The complex of cultural, sports, business centers, and hotel facilities provide great opportunities for the development of cultural and sports activities and modern hospitality.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The city has three Orthodox churches, one Catholic, a museum and a library, a workers’ university, cultural and artistic societies, a city choir, and a radio station. The Festival of Music Societies of Vojvodina has been held in Ruma for over three decades. The young City Theater is also working with success. Sports and recreational activities also take place on four football fields and playgrounds next to schools.<\/p>\n

A beach has been built on Lake Borkovac. Since the middle of the 19th century, Ruma has had all the attributes of a city, and it has kept that urban charm and civic spirit until today when the number of inhabitants has reached 32,000.<\/h1>\n

The best compliment to the city in the heart of Srem was given by a newcomer stating that „he has never seen a smaller city without missing anything“.<\/h1>\n
